Update - 4/5/20 (we are doing well)

We are still hunkered down at a Thousand Trails property in South Texas. Pretty quiet here. Very few people and little traffic on the surrounding streets.

Like most areas (should be ALL areas) we are ordered to shelter in place. As long as they don't make us move we are quite comfortable and living social distancing to the max.

We have been leveraging Walmart and HEB curbside pickup for groceries. They both have the system working well. HEB limits the changes you can do to your order after initially placed where Walmart let's you add or delete up to a few hours before pickup time. Both are completely free and both have been impressive with the meats and produce they select. And you don't ever get face to face with the store employee. They bring it to your car, load it up for you, and then politely thank you for being a customer. Wow! They have consistently been up beat and courteous even though they are on the front lines. Amazing.

We are not hoarding, but are trying to maintain about 3 to 4 weeks of food on board. Hard to make out in this picture but we have extra food and things like toothpaste and mouthwash.

We are limited as to what we can store in the fridge and freezer but are doing well. It has been hardest to get eggs and fresh chicken here. But in our last order we scored a beef roast and some pork ribs.

We are also doing our best to eat healthier where possible. That means no frozen or boxed meals and lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Most of what you see in the freezer are veggie burgers and frozen (no sugar added) fruit.

We have 4 drawers in our pantry and they are all this full. We stocked up on tuna, canned soups, beans and other non perishables. We purposely bought only things we like so everything will get eaten. Seeing the new recommendations not to shop has made us feel good about our planning.

We still have some toilet paper and more on the way (thanks to Amazon). We found some Lysol wipes at HEB and are slowly working through our one bottle of hand sanitizer. Still we feel like we are pretty well off all things considered.

Seeing some of the news reports of long lines at grocery stores, I think we are in really great shape (so far😁)

Where we are in Texas they have implemented a 2 person maximum in cars and only 2 people per family allowed in a store together. Both offenses are subject to fines. I personally think that's a really good thing!

Our free time (that would be all of our time 😁) is spent doing projects, exercising, reading and stream bingeing tv and videos. There are some really good ones out there. Right now we are working through Sons of Anarchy.

We are hitting at least 6.5 miles of walking every day, some days we do more. I have an average of 7.1 miles per day at the moment.

One positive thing is with the healthy eating and regular exercising, my blood glucose levels are averaging under 120. That's the best I have had in many years and is actually below the diabetes threshold.

So all is good here. We are staying engaged, high spirited and making the best of this horrible situation. We hope you are well and similarly enthusiastic about getting through this.

Thanks for reading!
